IFPRI Annual Meeting 8-12 July 2007 , Perth Australia

We have just come away from what I think all participants regarded as another successful meeting. The facilities were good, the weather was kind. Importantly members were impressed by the consistent high quality of the technical presentations. We were missing a few familiar faces who I know would dearly liked to attend if circumstances had allowed. The contributions of Paul Mort and Chip Zukowski (the first time he did not attend in 20 years) were missed.

As we did last year I have posted all the proceedings of the meeting on the web site under the different categories

TAC Meeting Thursday 12 June

Summary of decisions. I have posted the working document that Jim edited as the meeting progressed.

The briefs for the reviews (2007-2008) that were approved need revising because of changes in content and scope. It is important that we have final versions ready as soon as possible.

Projects 2008 - 2009

I remind you of the timetable for initiating these projects. September 1, 2007 Final agreed version of project briefs available September 2007 Briefs issued to members for prioritisation As soon as voting is completed - and not later than January 2008 successful briefs issued to the identified potential PI's not later than 15 December. Project proposals will be available for Spring Technical Meeting (potentially 3-4 April 2008) at which time they will be reviewed and critical recommendations prepared.

Jan Mewis' consultants Overview of the Wet Systems area and Mojtaba Ghadiri's Overview of the Size Reduction area, together with his spreadsheet appendix for Granulation Coverage , 11th ESoC Coverage, CHoPS Coverage and PARTEC Coverage are also included here. The latter also provided data on the proportion of papers presented at recent particle technology conferences that focussed on comminution/attrition.

Member Company Presentations

As last year this new feature of the programme proved stimulating with presentations from Novozymes, Degussa and Aveka which are included. Impromptu presentations from Chanel and Malvern were not captured.
