2017 Winter Meeting Materials

IFPRI’s 2017 Winter Meeting is January 26 and 27 at Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam.   It is comprised of a business meeting and a technical meeting.  In the business meeting, we will review the status of the budget and membership and discuss relevant administrative issues.  Given the rapid growth of IFPRI, we will also have a strategic discussion about the optimal size of IFPRI and the impact of size on our operations.  In the technical meeting, we will discuss the proposals that we have received against our newest project and review briefs.  We will not make project selections in this meeting, rather we will discuss strengths and weaknesses of each proposal and highlight questions and recommendations for improvement.  After the meeting, The discussion will be summarized and sent to the proposal authors with an invitation to provide IFPRI with revised proposals.  We will review the revised proposals prior to the 2017 Annual General Meeting and make our project selections from them.

For the coming year, we received renewal proposals from Joe McCarthy, Karen Hapgood, and Colin Hare and Ali Hassanpour.  We also received two proposals each for our two project briefs: deliquoring of solvent-wetted filter cakes and scaling rules for powder mixing.  Finally, we successfully identified authors for all three reviews, although one (particulate systems gap analysis, by Stefan Heinrich) won’t be completed until 2018.   These have been combined into the Briefing Paper for email distribution.  The briefing paper and the individual proposals may be downloaded using the links below.
