Project Liaisons

Project Liaisons

Liaison Lists Updated January 14, 2026.

The IFPRI project liaison role was created to facilitate communication between IFPRI’s members and the research associates executing IFPRI-sponsored research.  This ensures that the members are aware of progress made in each project and that project issues are resolved quickly and to the mutual interests of the members and research associates.

Representatives of IFPRI members can act as liaison to as many projects as they choose.  Ideally, each project will have at least two liaisons, with one lead who is responsible for scheduling meetings with the RA and summarizing the outcomes.

The number, timing, and organization of the meetings is left to the discretion of the liaisons and RA, however at least three meetings are recommended:

  • After the AGM, to check that the RA receives any feedback from the AGM
  • One month before of the Winter Meeting to provide an update at the Technical Meeting
  • One month before the AGM to remind RAs of AGM requirement like speaking time, number of slides, general content, etc.

The liaisons should report back to the VP on the status of the project after each meeting (just a couple of sentences is needed).  The VP will review these comments at IFPRI monthly meetings and ensure that any follow up actions are taken.

An important liaison role will is to critically review the Annual and Final Reports.  This includes:

  • Checking and pushing if necessary for timely delivery of the reports (reports nominally due 11/31).  VP will assist
  • Reminding and checking that the reporting style is appropriate for an industrial audience
  • Reviewing content and recommending amendments before final version is issued.
  • Working with the academic to identify industrially relevant outcomes.  Ensure that these are reported in a quality executive summary that can be shared with senior management.
