2018 Winter Meeting Materials
The technical session at the winter meeting is devoted to reviewing project, renewal, and review proposals. The comments about each proposal will be summarized and provided to each PI, and they will be invited to submit a revised proposal for consideration at the AGM.
At the 2017 annual general meeting, we agreed to solicit proposals for six projects:
- powder adhesion to metal surfaces (punch sticking)
- wetting and dispersion of powders of biological origin
- characterization of spray nozzles at industrial conditions
- slurry and paste rheology
- modeling of impact transformations of semi-brittle crystals
- powder flow near boundaries
We will receive at least two proposals for each project except the impact transformation project.
In addition, three reviews were proposed:
- hygroscopic powder flowability characterization
- grinding aids
- characterization of boundary layers in extrusion (wall slip)
The first of these was not placed, as it was too similar to a recent IFPRI review on the same topic by Jamie Cleaver.
Finally, we have three renewals to consider:
- Andrew Bayly: spray drying at high temperature [NOTE: as of Jan 10, Andrew has not submitted a renewal proposal, and he has indicated his interest in deferring this for one year]
- Uli Wiesner: molecular self-assembly
- Karen Daniels: dry powder rheology
Proposals will be added to this page as they are received. If you are attending the winter meeting, please be prepared to discuss them. If you will not attend, please send Jim Michaels your comments before the winter meeting.
